Granny Square Crochet Class

LEVEL: Easy 

AGE: For ages 13+

PREREQUISITES: Basic crochet skills are recommended for this class including: 

• Making a slip knot

• Holding yarn and crochet hook

• Chain stitch

• Single crochet stitch

CLASS DESCRIPTION: 

In this class, we will be learning how to crochet the iconic granny square! Granny squares are very universal and can be used to make many projects! Where it be decor, a coaster, blanket, cardigans, bags, bandanas (even for your furry friends), you can use the skills that we learn in this class to get creative and make your own project from granny squares! This class will also cover how to change colors in your granny square. 

This class will using the following skills:

• Reading a crochet chart

• Making slip knot

• Chain stitch

• Double Crochet

• Slip Stitch

• Weave in ends 

PATTERN:

We will be using a granny square diagram to complete this class. You can access the granny square diagram by clicking the link below:

MATERIALS:

• Yarn: 1 skein of Malabrigo Vientos or 1 skein of Loopy Mango Dream: Bulky yarn (color of your choice!). Yarn should be wound prior to class. 

• US J-10 (6mm), Crochet Hook

• Stitch markers (locking or open)

• Tapestry needle

• Scissors

All materials are available for purchase at A Yarn Market. Please purchase materials and choose yarn color prior to class. We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early to wind your yarn in store, or winding yarn at the store when you purchase beforehand. Store hours can be located here.

POLICIES

• Class fee does not include the yarn or needles. Materials are available at A YARN MARKET for purchase before class.

• Classes require a minimum of three participants to be conducted. If fewer than three participants are enrolled, a private lesson may be offered, or the class fee will be credited back to you.

• No refunds. Please note that missed classes are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. 

• Class dates are contingent upon weather conditions; extreme weather may necessitate rescheduling.
